Osiris was an important god in Egyptian mythology, representing agriculture, fertility, life, death, and resurrection. The Nile River was seen as his bloodstream, and the annual flooding of the river was seen as a sign of his power over agriculture and fertility. The flooding deposited rich silt on the banks of the river, allowing crops to grow and flourish.
